MCT Brattberg multi cable transit (MCT) was invented and patented in the early 1950s by Nils Brattberg. Since then, it has been adopted by the Marine and Offshore industry as the standard cable transit seal system in view of its high performance and safety features. Today, the system architecture is widely used as the default design for a wide range of Offshore and Onshore projects, and is also accepted widely by other industries and applications.

Superior products and operational safety are achieved by the attention to detail that is applied by MCT Brattberg from early stages of product design, testing, certifications to leading societies to finally being installed in the field.

Multipli offers MCT Brattberg products and solutions for Maritime, Land based, ATEX/IECEx, EMP/EMI/EMC and Bonding & Grounding (B&G).

Putting Safety First. Protecting people and assets since 1952.

Putting Safety First

MCT Brattberg endeavors to protect people and assets through the design, development and manufacturing of high-performance cable and pipe transits system. These are used in high-risk maritime, offshore and land-based environments to minimize danger by preventing the spread of fire, smoke, water, gas, chemicals and other hazards substances.

MCT Brattberg sealing method and quality system was adapted to meet the rigid requirements of the offshore industry. The company is assessed and certified by DNV, in accordance with the Quality and Environment Management system standard EN ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS for the design, manufacturing and supply of fire barrier and sealed transit systems associated with cable and pipe routes in building and marine environments.

Every product in MCT Brattberg system is certified by most of the classification societies, and is manufactured according to a tried and tested quality control system that is fully documented. R&D has shown that for a standard frame used for maritime applications, an internal width of 120 mm, a depth of 60 mm and wall thickness of 10 mm are optimal window sizes for maintaining structural strength and for fitting insert blocks. Both single and multiple transits frames are available.

The dimensions of the various frames have become the industry standard simply because these types of frame were first to be introduced by MCT Brattberg and have proved to be successful over the last 70 years.

We are amazingly accurate and fast in delivery resulting from good level of inventory. For larger project requirements, we work closely with our planning, operations and production team in Kalskrona Sweden to ensure your project requirements are well communicated to meet the delivery and installation timeline.

Training instill an awareness of safety regarding the use and installation of cable and pipe transits at all levels of a project. The relevant staff in design companies should know what types of transit are available and where they are best used. Shipbuilding or construction site managers should be trained in all aspects of transit design and installation so that they know how to train installers and how inspection routines are carried of effectively. And installers should be trained how to fit transit frames and blocks correctly to achieve tight systems of the highest standard. All these factors enable installation personnel to perform high-quality work that not only puts Safety First with cable and pipe transits, but also avoids the need for reworking along with consequent increased costs.

Protecting Lives and Assets Globally

Since 1952

It all begins with one purpose, to protect people and assets in high-risk environments.

Safety – freedom from danger and risk of injury – is the prime concern for cable and pipe transit systems. When a hole is cut in a deck, bulkhead, wall or floor to allow the passage of cables or pipes, risk is introduced into the structure, particularly the spaces left between the round cables and/or pipes after they have been installed.

If a fire should occur in a switch room or an engine room, for example, decks and bulkheads act as fire barriers that prevent the spread of flames, heat and smoke. This protective function, therefore, must be reinstated and the risk of hazards spreading is eliminated by installing gas-tight self-extinguishing packing system between cables and pipes passing through decks and bulkheads. In 1952, Nils Brattberg invented the multi-cable transit system that restore the integrity of the opening which can withstand up to >1 hour of fire barrier, 4 bars of gas pressure and 6 bars of water pressure.
